Resolution to Oppose the Recall of Governor Gavin Newsom and 
Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks

​

WHEREAS, Governor Gavin Newsom and Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks are currently facing recall efforts, largely due to their support of health directives intended to mitigate the spread of COVID-19;

 

WHEREAS, these recall elections cost taxpayers millions of dollars;

 

WHEREAS, it is unconscionable to use funds for these recall efforts, particularly as the State of California recovers from the health and economic crisis brought on by the year-long pandemic and with Supervisor Parks terming out in 2022;

 

WHEREAS, recall attempts such as these are part of a political strategy that voids the will of the voters by attempting to gain local and statewide governmental offices for politicians who are unable to win in the regular election cycle;

 

WHEREAS, recall attempts such as these contradict purported Republican party values of fiscal responsibility and the power of the electorate; 

 

WHEREAS, the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee opposes the recalls of Supervisor Parks and Governor Newsom; 

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley opposes the recall of Governor Gavin Newsom and Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks;

 

FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley will publicly oppose these recalls and undertake widespread communication of this opposition.
