About Us

The Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley serves to inform and involve Democrats in local, state and national politics. We are the officially sanctioned and chartered group of the Democratic Party in the Conejo Valley.

Democratic clubs put a lot of effort into campaigns, but their most important role is to sustain and build the Democratic Party between campaigns so there is structure there when the candidates show up.  The work is rarely glamorous and often tedious.  We make sure there is a Democratic booth at Conejo Valley Days, Arbor/Earth Day, the Street Fair and every other community event we're allowed into in the Conejo Valley.  We make sure someone is there the 12 days a year we're allowed to table at the Oaks Mall.   We have held a gathering of local Democrats every single month for at least the last 5 years, have held at least four other events every year and have hosted everyone from gubernatorial to school board candidates at either meetings or separate events.  Every one of those activities has to be planned, funds have to be raised to support them, and volunteers found to make it all happen.

But sometimes you come across a number that makes it all worth it.  Because of all of our activity, in 2007 we registered more than twice as many Democrats in Thousand Oaks as the Republicans were able to register.  In fact you can add the Decline to State registrations to the Republicans and we still doubled the number.

Our club is the largest in Ventura County, with over 250 paid members, and another 700 on our mailing list. Our numbers are increasing each month, and we expect to reach our goal of growing our paid membership by the end of the year.

Our members range in age from teens to seniors, and all are welcome. We encourage membership in other local, regional, state and national groups.

Eleven of our members are elected delegates to the California Democratic Party, in the 37th & 41st Districts. Five of our members represent the 2nd Supervisorial District on the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee.

Please consider joining our efforts which helped change Ventura County from a Red County to a Blue County. With your help, we can continue to make a difference!
