| Welcome to the Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley! The Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley (DCCV) is dedicated to promoting progressive ideals throughout Ventura County and California. We believe in good jobs, a balanced budget, choice, a clean environment, quality education, more cops on our streets and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. We are pro-family and pro-children. We fight for a quality education and safe schools for our children. We'll continue to fight to raise the minimum wage, protect Social Security and provide quality and affordable health care for everyone. The DCCV will be promoting candidates for elections, as well as informing the local community and inviting others to be more active in creating a better society. Monthly General Meeting - September 15, Wednesday, 6:15 PM, Thousand Oaks Library, Thousand Oaks WEDNESDAY, SEPEMBER 15, MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING AT THOUSAND OAKS LIBRARY, 1401 E. JANSS ROAD This meeting is on the 3rd Wednesday due to religious holiday. SOCIAL NETWORKING AT 6:15PM - MEETING AT 6:45PM Our primary speaker is Mr. Matt Rinnert, who is the Development Director of the College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge. He has recently been instrumental in getting multi-million dollar grants for the CSUN College of Business and Economics. Prior to his current position, Matt worked with the Democratic National Committee where he was assigned to do various fundraising tasks for the national Democratic Party. Among his positions was fundraiser for the Gore campaign in 2000. Matt has plenty of tips and stories to tell about getting out the vote and raising funds. Garden Party and Awards Dinner, September 26, 5 - 8 PM, Jay Kapitz Home and Garden, Oak Park Please join us Sunday, September 26, 2010, 5 PM to 8 PM in the garden at the home of Jay Kapitz in Oak Park. We are presenting awards to some of our excellent local and statewide elected officials. Speakers include Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett, State Party Vice-Chair Eric Bauman and State Senator Fran Pavley. We are also featuring our candidates for Congress, statewide and local offices including Tim Allison - Congress, Ferial Masry - 37th Assembly, Diane Shaw - 38th Assembly, Tom Mullens - Ventura County Board of Education and Brandon Millan - Thousand Oaks City Council. Enjoy live music & fabulous silent auction items. Cost includes catered dinner, dessert and beverages including wine and beer. Lower cost is for payment before September 15. Individuals: $35; Seniors: $30; Students: $20. Golden Oak Sponsor - $250 Silver Oak Sponsor - $100 Sponsorships include dinner and notices in future invitiations and announcements. The Democratic Club office Conejo Valley is very proud to announce the opening of its Thousand Oaks campaign office at 702 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Labor Day Picnic - Monday, September 6, 2010 The Tri-Counties Central Labor Council and the Working Blue Democratic Club present the annual Labor Day Picnic 2010 on Monday, September 6th, this year at Freedom Park in Camarillo from 11am to 3p. The annual Labor Day Picnic will include speakers from around the state, live music, booths with goodies, raffles, face painting, kids games, a Jolly Jumper and more.
The annual Labor Day Picnic tradition goes back decades and brings working families together in a fun environment, to support wages, benefits and working conditions. This year’s theme, Back to Basics, Phone Banking and Shoe Leather, celebrates advocacy for issues that affect all working families.
Tickets include lunch and entertainment. $20 for adults. Free for children under 10 - with a paying adult. DCCV receives $10 for each ticket purchased.

Tabling at the Oaks Mall, Saturdays DCCV will be tabling at The Oaks Shopping Center. Shifts are available from 12-2 or 2-4. Saturdays. Please call to reserve your shift and let's energize voters! We will also be setting up tabling locations in Agoura Hills and Westlake Village. Candidate Events: Democratic Club of the Conejo Valley - Congressman Henry Waxman Speaks to Capacity Crowd, January 3, 2010 ![]() ![]() ![]() Michelle Obama's Shortbread Cookies Recipe - Shared by Sandy Emberland Michelle Obama's Shortbread Cookies Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, softened1-1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons sugar2 egg yolks2 tablespoons Amaretto (almond liqueur)1 teaspoon each orange and lemon zest3 cups cake flour (not self-rising)1/4 teaspoon salt1 beaten egg whiteChopped nuts or dried fruit (optional) Directions: 1. Heat oven to 325 degree F. Line a 17 x 12 x 1-inch baking pan withnonstick foil. In large bowl, cream together butter and 1-1/2 cups of thesugar.2. Slowly add egg yolks, and beat well until smooth. Beat in Amaretto andzest.3. Stir in flour and salt until combined.4. Spread dough evenly into prepared pan, flattening as smoothly aspossible.5. Brush top of dough with egg white; sprinkle with nuts or fruit (if using)and with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.6. Bake at 325 degree F for 25 minutes or until brown, turn off oven andallow cookies to sit in oven (with door ajar) for 15 minutes. Cut whileslightly warm. |
